A Repeatability Test for Two Orientation Based Interest Point Detectors
نویسندگان
چکیده
This report evaluates the stability of two image interest point detectors, starpattern points and points based on the fourth order tensor. The Harris operator is also included for comparison. Different image transformations are applied and the repeatability of points between a reference image and each of the transformed images are computed. The transforms are plane rotation, change in scale, change in view, and change in lightning conditions. We conclude that the result largely depends on the image content. The starpattern points and the fourth order tensor models the image as locally straight lines, while the Harris operator is based on simple/non-simple signals. The two methods evaluated here perform equally well or better than the Harris operator if the model is valid, and perform worse otherwise.

A Filtering Strategy for Interest Point Detecting to Improve Repeatability and Information Content
This paper compares several stereo image interest point detectors with respect to their repeatability and information content through experimental analysis. The Harris-Laplace detector gives better results than other detectors in areas of good texture; however, in areas of poor texture, the HarrisLaplace detector may be not the best choice. A featurerelated filtering strategy is designed for th...
متن کاملUtilization of Interest Point Detectors in Content Based Image Retrieval
The paper deals with content based image retrieval in general and interest point detectors as one of possible methods used in object recognition. There are described current trends in narrowing down the so called “Semantic gap” and we propose a new solution how to achieve it. Furthermore, we evaluate three common interest point detectors with respect to the change of image brightness. Particula...
متن کاملAn Evaluation of Volumetric Interest Points
Shape and texture are two fundamental properties of objects. The use of texture (i.e. 2D surface colouration), or appearance, for object detection, recognition and registration has been well studied, shape (in 3D) less so. However, the increasing prevalence of depth sensors and the diminishing returns to be had from appearance alone have seen a surge in shape-based methods. In this work we inve...
متن کاملAn Improved Harris-Affine Invariant Interest Point Detector
Interest point detection is essential process for many computer vision applications, which must provide invariant points to several image variations, such as, rotation, zoom, blur, illumination variation and change of viewpoints. Harris-Affine detector is considered as one of the most effective interest point detectors, although it still presents vulnerability to some image. This paper proposes...
متن کاملTowards an Optimal Interest Point Detector for Measurements in Ultrasound Images
This paper focuses on the comparison of different interest point detectors and their utilization for measurements in ultrasound (US) images. Certain medical examinations are based on speckle tracking which strongly relies on features that can be reliably tracked frame to frame. Only significant features (interest points) resistant to noise and brightness changes within US images are suitable fo...
